Premier Edition Newsletter
Introduction | |
| |
CAM2 is proud to announce the
launch of its new electronic bulletins and quarterly
electronic newsletters. As many of you know,
electronic newsletters are one of the most popular and
most efficient forms of professional communication
today.
Our goal of distributing an electronic newsletter is
to circulate a document that is informative, yet concise
and to-the-point. The newsletter will address topics,
such as: Product offerings, technical bulletins, product
specification (ie “spec”) changes, industry issues, and
promotional items. The newsletter will also
feature articles from contributing editors, such as
Titan Labs, Equipment Savers, ILMA (Independent
Lubricants Manufacturers Association), NLGI (National
Association of Lubricating Grease Manufacturers), in
addition to many others.
As the volume of Private
Label Lubricants continues to grow with each passing
year, CAM2 is continually looking at new ways to
improve communication with our customers and compete in
the marketplace. CAM2’s leadership amongst the
independent sector is steadfast. One of the ways that we
achieve this is by ensuring that our customers have
access to the most current spec products available (i.e.
15W-40 CJ-4, Dexron® VI, etc).
The electronic newsletter will compliment our ability
to remain in regular communication with our customers
and visa versa. It is projected that in less than 10
years, the majority of lubricant distributors will
utilize at least some form of e-mail marketing or
electronic communication as a means of staying in
contact with customers and business partners. Not only
will our newsletter and electronic communications make
information transmittal easier, but it will allow us to
differentiate ourselves from competitors.
Each CAM2
representative is well-seasoned and has a solid industry
background and work experience that we would like to put
to work for you. Several of our team members have
worked for major oil companies (ie
ExxonMobil®, Kendall®,
Exxon®/Southwest Grease, Shell®,
Sunoco®). The culmination of all of our
team members’ experiences gives us a better
understanding of the distributor business. CAM2 sales
representatives know what they need to, “bring to the
table” to help your business achieve its goals (i.e.
increased margins, volume, market share, etc.).
All CAM2 sales representatives are available to ride
with distributor sales representatives to help pull the
CAM2 product through to your distributorship. We
want to be part of your team and want you to be a part
of ours.
Over the next several months, we will be showcasing
re-designed CAM2 banners, posters and t-shirts that will
be available for automotive business segments. In
addition to the Automotive segment, CAM2 also has a full
line of Commercial, Industrial and Grease products, as
well. Thank
you again for taking time to read this newsletter. Each
and every CAM2 sales representative is eager and willing
to work hard and do what it takes to earn your business.
Please do not hesitate to call or write if we can be of
any assistance or if we can answer any questions that
you might have.
Thank
you,
Jack Baker,
President John Horstman, Vice President

Calcium Sulfonate
Grease (Cam2 Ultra 580 EP)
- Excellent multipurpose
characteristics
- Provides excellent, inherent
rust protection
- Outstanding extreme pressure
properties
- Provides exceptional service
life
- High dropping point
- Superior for rust performance,
with oxidation stability considered good or
excellent
- Rust inhibitors are surfactants
that neutralize acids on the surface of metal
- Superior grease for
applications where water contamination is common
Grease
is grease, right? Unfortunately, the answer is not quite
that simple, because there are countless types of
greases. If the right grease is not being used in
equipment, you could be paying too much for replacement
parts. On the other hand, by using the right grease on
equipment, it can run for years without a problem. The
key is learning which grease is right for the
application at hand.
CAM2’s
Ultra 580 EP Calcium Sulfonate greases are technically
advanced, premium greases characterized by exceptional
mechanical stability, excellent resistance to rust and
corrosion, and exhibit very high heat and load-carrying
capabilities.
To begin, the original Calcium
Sulfonate grease was discovered, by accident, while a
technical committee was preparing an over-based
Sulfonate for use in engine oil. From this
incident, an entirely new grease product segment was
born. In 1999, Caterpillar® launched a
Calcium Sulfonate grease product line. Since that
time, Caterpillar® has experienced increased
volume and is reaping the rewards that this segment of
the grease market has to offer. This market remains
strong, with distributors yielding high margins when
selling the CAM2 Ultra 580 EP.
CAM2 Ultra 580 EP is formulated with
synthetic thickeners and is designed to improve several
properties, compared to conventional multi-purpose
greases. The base thickener of the grease is derived
from Calcium Sulfonate, has a total base number of
300-400 and is typical of those produced for engine
oils.
The Cam2 Ultra 580 EP is a modified
Calcium Sulfonate grease with excellent multipurpose
characteristics. The basic Calcium Sulfonate
properties in Ultra 580 EP provide inherent rust
protection and outstanding extreme pressure properties
in heavy shock-loading applications. The Ultra 580
EP and calcium sulfonate greases, in general, are
oxidation inhibited and provide exceptional service
life, subsequently outperforming those characteristics
of most Lithium Complex greases. In addition,
Calcium Sulfonate-based greases have a higher dropping
point, making them attractive for high-temperature
applications. This grease excels in EP performance, as
demonstrated in the ASTM D2596 four-ball EP test, and in
the ASTM D2509 Timken test.
General applications for Calcium
Sulfonate greases include: automotive, agricultural,
construction, food, industry, mining, paper
manufacturing and steel mills. Specific automotive
applications include: chassis, ball joints, universal
joints and wheel bearings. Industrial applications
include: continuous casters, conveyors, ball mills,
crushers, off-shore and underwater applications.
In summary, CAM2 Ultra 580 EP is
excellent for high temperature and heavy shock loaded
applications and exceeds the performance of most lithium
and lithium complex greases available today.
Calcium Sulfonate greases are, without exception, the
most effective rust-inhibited multipurpose greases
available in the market today. CAM2 Ultra 580 EP is
offered with or without moly. CAM2
Ultra 580 EP Grease will simplify your life. It’s
the one grease (in the complicated world of greases)
that can provide outstanding performance in most
applications. You don’t have to be a lube engineer to
make a grease recommendation, just have CAM2 Ultra 580
EP on hand at all times.
CAM2 Ultra 580 EP Grease Product
Bulletin

CAM2 Ultra
580 EP Grease is available in the following sizes:
15oz tubes,
35lb pails, 120lb kegs, 400lb drums, totes

With the price of diesel fuel
increasing almost daily, inbound and outbound delivery
costs have become the topic of much discussion and
dismay amongst lubricant distributors. Many distributors
are asking themselves, “How can we reduce our product
acquisition costs?”
One of the most feasible options is
to receive product via railcar. If you’re saying to
yourself right now, “I don’t have a rail spur or rail
access”, then keep reading because CAM2 says, “No
Problem”. Several current CAM2 distributors do not have
spurs or rail access at their facilities, however, they
do receive CAM2 product via railcar. With the help of
your CAM2 representative, such access can (in most
cases) be located and arrangements made to allow you to
obtain rail access. It is likely that other
businesses in your area or short line railroads have
rail spurs that can be utilized for trans-loading
purposes. Do you supply railroad engine oil to any short
line railroads? Do any of your customers have rail
access? If you answered, “Yes” then you are
already on your way to establishing a relationship that
may help you to get the access that you are looking for.
Even if you answered “No” to both questions, there is
still the potential to receive product via rail to a
location conveniently located close to your plant.
CAM2 sales representatives work diligently on behalf of
our customers to find a local rail spur.
We would like to share the below
quote with you, from a valued CAM2 distributor who
supplies a short-line railroad with product. The
distributor had an existing relationship with the
railroad and after a brief discussion and agreement; the
railroad offered the use of a rail spur to the
distributor to trans-load product at NO cost.
“By utilizing a local rail
spur to off load our product, we saved $0.20/gallon in
freight costs. We pail a portion of the product and that
$0.20/gallon savings now equates to $1.00 in saving for
each pail.”
-M.P.,
Major Branded Oil Distributor, North Carolina
CAM2 has its own fleet of 75 + rail
cars. Our rail car fleet consists of 1, 2, 3 and 4
compartment rail cars. In addition, CAM2 recently
acquired 15 new, three compartment cars
(8,000gal/compartment). In June, CAM2 will be acquiring
5 more brand new, four compartment cars
(6,000gal/compartment). Multiple compartment cars
offer distributors flexibility with transporting
product.
Another convenience factor can be
found at the www.CAM2international.com
web page, where we now post all railcar outage tables.
This enhancement is beneficial, in that it reduces
paperwork and streamlines the verification
process. We
look forward to working closely with you to make sure
that receiving product via railcar is a success for your
distributorship. Please call your CAM2 sales
representative today to help you reduce your product
acquisition costs.

Welcome Titan
Labs | |
| |
CAM2 International, LLC
welcomes Titan Labs as a contributing editor to
the CAM2 quarterly newsletter.
Titan
Laboratories, located in Denver, Colorado is a complete
fluid analysis lab. Established in 1979, Titan has
processed more than 4 million samples and offers their
services across the globe. Titan offers analyses of oil,
coolant and diesel fuel. CAM2 International, LLC
thanks Titan for rendering their services for the
purposes of this newsletter and provided below, is their
debut article, which focuses on their specialty-Fluid
Analysis.
How
does fluid analysis work? During operation,
lubricating oils circulate through the major components
of a vehicle’s engine and equipment. The circulating
fluids pick up small amounts of fuel, water, dirt,
fragments of wear metal and various other contaminates
that result from and can cause mechanical problems. The
summary analysis of used oil can determine the condition
of your vehicle’s engine and equipment, pinpoint
specific problems, and will provide recommendations for
correcting problems identified in the analysis.
When
and how will I get the results of my analysis? Daily
emergency notifications are made via phone, e-mail
and/or fax, by an experienced Titan evaluator,
immediately following an analysis. By doing this, if a
customer has questions or concerns, they can address
them at that time, with the technician on the phone
without having to be transferred from department to
department.
What
makes Titan different from other labs? Titan’s
leadership is paramount. Vice President Marina Radoumis,
has over 40 years of industry experience, Asst. Director
Dawn Brown brings another 15 years to the group and Lab
Manager Janet Boyd adds yet another 10 years to the
team. Having key people with over 60 cumulative years
of experience creates a solid foundation of knowledge;
not easily found in other labs. Titan is a proven
leader in showing customers the benefits of used oil
analyses:
Expected Benefits include:
Reduced equipment repair costs
Keeping small problems small
Ability to schedule downtime
Elimination of surprises
Maximize maintenance dollars
Titan has customers in all 50 states, as well as 10
other countries. Customers who are not local can count
on excellent turnaround time, as if they were just down
the street from Titan. Titan has various sampling
programs and reporting formats. In the next issue, we
will dive deeper into the details of the programs and
services mentioned in this article.
Fluid Analysis Sample Kits are available. Please
contact your C2I sales rep, or respond to
cam2international@verizon.net and we will have one
